Sustainably Grown

Grown in harmony with nature

Our vision from the start has been to produce elegant wines from the highest quality grapes, all while enjoying the beauty of nature and protecting our land for future generations.

Nestled on the edge of Davis in Northern California, Great Bear Vineyards experiences a climate of hot days, cool nights, and a delt breeze. These diurnal temperature shifts provide the perfect growing conditions for high-quality grapes with rich, intense flavors. Our complex soils feature Rincon silty loam and clay loam soils.

Certified organic by CCOF (California Certified Organic Farmers), our Great Bear estate vineyards are cultivated in harmony with nature using sustainable and regenerative farming practices. We happily share our home with an abundance of wildflowers, birds, bees, jack rabbits, and other animals.

In the vineyard we deficit irrigate, using minimal water. In addition, growing permanent cover crops helps us reduce and retain water in the soil while building a healthy microbiome of beneficial microbes that feed the crops and regenerate the soil. Come harvest, we individually select and hand-harvest only the finest clusters from our 10-acre vineyard.

We also specialize in producing premium hand-tended grapes to supply other world-class wineries in Napa, Sonoma, and throughout California. Please contact us by email (greatbearvineyards@gmail.com) if you are interested in purchasing our grapes, whether you are a commercial winery looking for 20 tons or a home winemaker wanting 200 pounds.
